Understanding Hawai‘i’s Food Culture

Art Direction | Editorial Layout | Illustration Design | Journalism

In my Senior Capstone Seminar, I combined my interest in graphic design and editorial layout into a mini zine series: Understanding Hawai‘i’s Food Culture. The series contained three installments called The Plantation Days, Ono Grindz on Da Go, and Hawai‘i’s Regional Cuisine that were researched, interviewed, illustrated, created, and published over four months. This zine series explored the impact of the Plantation Days on Hawai‘i’s local cuisine, what this type of cuisine comprises and where to find it, and lastly how it has and is constantly evolving to put Hawai‘i on the map as a major culinary destination.
